Feeling Good
I'm feeling pretty spiffy tonight. Things have been pretty good in my little world.
We started filming for the new season and if you watch, you will be in for a great ride this season. After work I got on here, my new home. I must say, the people I've met so far have been awesome and very welcoming (Clay - I wuv you!)
Although, some (Ryan) have been rude but I guess it's just how it goes. You win some and you lose some.
I really have enjoyed meeting all these new and intersting people. Half of which I would never meet otherwise. I'm still trying to make some more icons for my journal but I'm so critical of all my pictures that I've done. It's rediculous. Half of the ones out there are from my "Whose the Boss?" days. I think I might look at scene captures for some pictures from the show. Like you all care...lord.
Clay and I went and saw "From Justin to Kelly" tonight. It was hella fun. I had to hit Clay a few times to keep him from falling asleep but other than that we had a blast. He works to hard. Somebody needs to give that boy a break - geez.
I'm getting the "Lifting Up The World with a Oneness-Heart" award given by the Peace Meditation at the United Nations. I'm so honored. It "celebrates people of inspiration and dedication from all walks of life who have 'lifted up the world' through their services to humankind." When they decided to give be this award they said that my "contributions to the world of television and film is belittled by words. You have graced the screen with heartfelt and endearing flair and have uplifted the spirits of people worldwide. Of supreme note is your dedication and unreserved support of charities nationwide. Yours is a heart of gold." I feel so blessed!
I held an art show this summer to raise money for Nkosi's Haven, an organization that helps mothers and children with AIDS in South Africa. Since the show, I have heard from Gail Johnson, the org's founder, and mother of its namesake. She sent a lovely letter thanking me for all my support.
Here is some of the letter.
"Well how does one thank a stranger, from miles away, for doing so much for our project. Believe me it is almost impossible to just say 'thank you'.
I always find those two little words so very inadequate, because there is no way they can depict the mountain of gratitude - but THANK YOU, so very very much, for choosing Nkosi's Haven as the Beneficiary to your Photographic Exhibition & Auction....Your donation could not have come at a better time - whilst we started the year with a brilliant bank balance (but with enormous responsibilities and expenses) - there were very few monthly donations and I suppose I can admit that I was getting to panic stage - so I have to thank you for rescuing me as well!!! - and my staff - I have a hideous temper when I am under stress!!!
In Michael Kaplan's (American Photo) article you make mention that your camera was your best friend when in South Africa because your friends and family were not with you. Well, you now have a huge family and a whole lot of friends, plus homes that will welcome you with open arms. Please, if ever you return to our country remember that our homes are your homes and my family is yours.
Alyssa, thank you. I sincerely hope that we will meet one day.
Gail Johnson"
Awwwwwwwwww! You see why I love working with these people. It's so rewarding and just an eye opening experience. I've loved every second of it.
Well, I think it's time to end this little update. Till next time...
Blessed Be Alyssa
